Fall Cannabis Comfort Foods That Will Put You in the Mood for Sweater Weather

by

Autumn. It’s when the air turns chilly and whispers promises of pumpkin spice and warm turkey. This is the season we get to pull out our favorite hoodies and holiday sweaters. And it’s the perfect time to relax and chill as the pace of nature slows down a bit. But perhaps the best part of the fall season is the abundance of food. Harvest time brings plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, while the upcoming holidays bring on some beloved comfort dishes. It’s no secret that autumn means good food. No. Not good food. Amazing food.

Let’s face it. We love cannabis all the time. We don’t need the air to be cold to enjoy a buzz. But there is undoubtedly something comforting about getting a little stoned on a cloudy, windy fall afternoon. Maybe it’s the vibrant foliage, the sound of rustling leaves, or the calmness in the wildlife. Perhaps it’s all of that. Either way, autumn is a cannabis lover’s cloud nine.

When you combine fall weather, cannabis, and food, you get a little slice of heaven. Of course, you can use cannabutter to make bread, rolls, and sweets, but it’s also the perfect fat source for comfort soups like our Cheeba Chicken Soup. And cannabis teas are the ideal way to warm up while chilling out (pun intended). So without further ado, let’s look at some fabulous recipes that combine your love of autumn with your love of weed.
**CBD can be substituted for THC if you aren’t looking for a high.

Many culinary cannabis recipes call for cannabutter. This is the easiest way to cook with cannabis. In our article How To Make Classic Weed Brownies (and Space Cake Too), we briefly describe how to create cannabutter. Make sure you have a good amount on hand so you can create the recipes below. And rest assured, it will also stand in for just about any other recipe you want to infuse with some THC.

Fall Cannabis Tea

A tasty psychoactive THC-infused tea is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly day. An autumn spiced tea and a bit of honey take away that bitter marijuana taste and “makes the medicine go down in the most delightful way.”
For one large serving, you will need the following:

• ½ tbsp of cannabutter
• 2 cups of water
• 1 tbsp of raw honey
• ½ – 1 g of ground cannabis (keep in mind that you will also be using cannabutter)
• Milk or creamer (as per your liking)
• 1 autumn spice tea bag

DIRECTIONS:
1. Decarboxylate the ground cannabis. – You will need to decarboxylate ground cannabis the same way you did for your cannabutter. Simply bake it in the oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.
2. Bring four cups of water to a boil in a pot or kettle.
3. Add in the cannabutter (this step is vital as cannabis is lipophilic).
4. Stir in the ground cannabis and lower the heat to a simmer.
5. Simmer for at least 15 minutes. (Vital terpenes can be burned if your cannabis is heated to a high temperature, so make sure you keep it low).
6. Strain the plant matter out using a fine strainer.
7. Add your autumn spice tea bag to the water, steep for three minutes, and remove the tea bag.
8. Add honey and creamer to your liking, and boom, sip your way into that peaceful easy feeling that is Fall Cannabis Tea.

Cheeba Chicken Soup

Chicken soup is easy to make and a classic fall dish. Add a bit of cheeba to it, and you have what we can only describe as awesome.
For eight large servings, you will need the following:

• 4 tbsp cannabutter
• 1 whole chicken
• 4 diced carrots
• 4 diced celery stalks
• 2 diced onions
• Approx. 5 cups of water
• salt and pepper to taste
• 1 tbsp chicken bouillon

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large soup pot, combine the chicken, carrots, celery, and onion.
2. Add water to cover.
3. Uncovered, cook until the chicken flesh easily separates from the bones.
2. Empty the entire pot and strain the broth.
4. Remove the chicken meat from the bones.
5. Add salt, pepper, chicken bouillon, and cannabutter to the soup.
6. Return the chicken, carrots, celery, and onions to the pot and heat on low until the butter is melted.
7. Serve it up by the cup or bowl and enjoy the comfort of chicken soup and marijuana.
